Early in March, 2025, the North-Eastern University (NEU) in Gombe State, Nigeria, named its multimedia centre after Ghanaian investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas.
The famous undercover journalist subsequently paid a visit to the Emir of Gombe, His Royal Highness, Alh Abubakar Shehu Abubakar III, for naming the ultramodern facility after him.

The emir, who doubles as the chancellor of the university, showed Anas around the royal stables at his palace.

The emir highlighted some of the university’s achievements during the visit. He described the institution as a “hub of academic excellence and community development.”

Anas commended the emir for his visionary leadership and the university’s impact. He said the visit was both enlightening and inspiring and promised to support the growth of journalism in Gombe.

The university named the centre after Anas during the International Conference on Trends in Investigative Journalism in Northern Nigeria.

It was organised by NEU in partnership with WikkiTimes and Ghana’s Tiger Eye Foundation. The conference brought together leading voices in journalism to discuss the evolving role of investigative reporting in fostering accountability and development.
