Jubilation erupted on the premises of a High Court in Accra moments ago following the withdrawal of an interlocutory injunction case filed against the presidential and parliamentary polls of Ghana’s biggest opposition party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The lawyers for Dr. Kwabena Duffuor told the court they had received instructions from their client to discontinue the case.
The former Finance Minister, one of the presidential aspirants, filed for an interlocutory injunction against the primary polls over alleged irregularities in the voter register and the delegates’ photo album.
For fear of being held in contempt of court, the Electoral Commission (EC) pulled out from supervising the primaries until the legal tussle associated with the polls was resolved.
The outcome of the case suggests the coast is now clear for the polls to take place as scheduled.
