The African Electoral Institute (AEI) has commended the United States of America (USA) for its “enduring commitment to democratic principles and the rule of law” as the nation decides its next president on Tuesday (tomorrow).

The recommendation is contained in a statement the AEI released on Sunday from its headquarters in Ghana’s capital, Accra.

Both Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump are in their last-day sprint today across key battleground states in the race for the White House.

Harris is scheduled to campaign in Pennsylvania today as Trump heads to Michigan, North Carolina and Pennsylvania.

“As you exercise your right to vote as US citizens, we stand with you in the pursuit of a free, fair, and transparent electoral process.

“The African Electoral Institute values democratic principles and peaceful transitions, which are the hallmark of democracy which you champion around the globe,” said the statement in part.
